Phyllis A. DeGraff, PP, PLS

Phyllis received this award at the LPSCW member recognition evening held on May 12, 2010, at The Edgewater in Madison.  This recognition was first awarded in 1972, and nominees for this award are required to be active members and with at least three years experience in any legal field. 

 

Phyllis' legal career began in 1972 with an Associates degree from the State University of New York at Alfred.  From there she moved with her husband to Denver, Colorado, where she was employed for seven years by a large engineering/construction firm.  After two job transfers with her husband, Phyllis ended up in Houston where she worked for attorneys in civil and family law for eight years.  Another job transfer brought Phyllis and her family to southern Wisconsin in 1998.  Phyllis has experience working in various legal environments, and currently holds a position at the law firm of Nowlan & Mouat LLP in Janesville, working in transactional, corporate, real estate, civil, and family law.  Phyllis joined LPSCW through the encouragement of a chapter member, and since joining the chapter she has served in various officer positions and committees.  She has successfully passed the PLS and PP exams, received the Continuing Legal Education Award from NALS, and is the current chair of the Legal Administrative Professional Program Advisory Committee for Blackhawk Technical College. 

 

Phyllis has been married for almost 38 years and has two married daughters and three grandchildren.  She has been a volunteer for the Beloit Snappers Single A baseball team affiliate of the Minnesota Twins organization for eight years.  Her hobbies include knitting, weaving, reading, camping, and enjoying nature.
